How much does it cost to create a Crowdfunding campaign?

CharityVillage does not hold or take any money from your campaign. The donations received will be deposited in the payment processor account you add to your campaign when creating it. The platform only accepts Stripe or PayPal as the payment processor, therefore if your organization does not have an existing account, you must create one.

 

There are 3 pricing models to choose from:

1. Optional Tips (FREE)

  • 0% platform fee - As a fundraiser, you don’t pay anything. To help us keep use of the platform for free, we ask donors for an optional tip.

  • No monthly fee - No setup, monthly, or annual fees

  • Payment processing fee - Industry standard third-party payment processor fees (typically 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) or your negotiated nonprofit rate.

2. Fee Recovery

  • Every campaign is free to create

  • We ask supporters to cover 100% of the estimated fees for the transaction. Usually, they do, often making this plan cheaper than the Optional Tips plan.

  • For transactions where the supporters do not cover the fees, the campaign pays a 1% platform free plus third-party payment processing fees.

  • Average final cost 0-1% (depending on payment processing fees and supporter participation).

3. Flat Rate (industry standard)

  • Every campaign is free to create

  • We don't ask supporters or anything additional
  • The campaign pays a 1% platform fee plus third-party payment processing fees.
  • Average final cost 3-4% (depending on payment processing fees)
